Glass is a super versatile material that can be used in almost any environment and decoration style. Whether it's inside or outside, glass walls provide luminosity, lightness, and give sophistication and elegance to the place. If used in the façade, glass walls allow an integration between inside and outside areas, transforming one into an extension of the other. The advantage is the benefit of being able to enjoy natural light and the outdoors even while indoors. In addition, glass also creates spaciousness and can be used to expand small or narrow places.

Despite the advantages, many residents are afraid to opt for glass walls, as they fear losing privacy. To help answer this and other questions, we talked to architect Nathércia Queiroz, who explains that it is possible to maintain privacy without giving up the lightness of glass. It is also possible to add other features to the glass, such as curtains and blinds, or even use semi-translucent glass options, which do not allow total visibility. To help you stay on top of the subject, we have brought some tips on installation and types of glass, as well as 70 glass wall models that can serve as inspiration for your project.

What type of glass to use?

When choosing to put up a glass wall in your home, it is important to pay attention to technical standards and prioritize safety. Nathércia explains that depending on the purpose and place of installation, there is a specific glass indicated: "High performance glass, for example, is ideal for facades.Another option is self-cleaning glass, because it requires less cleaning and maintenance. For internal walls, the best option is tempered or laminated glass, called safety glass," says the professional.

What structure is needed?

According to the architect, there are different ways to install glass walls, everything will depend on the height of the ceiling and the size of the gap.

One possibility is to use metalon profiles, which are structures made of very resistant steel. another way is to fix the glass panels only on the floor and on the ceiling with the help of some proper supports. you can also use internal frames in the glass itself and fasten them with steel buttons.

What is the right way to clean?

In order for the glass wall to achieve the desired effect, it must always be clean, without stains and marks. The architect reminds us that when cleaning glass, we must never forget to use abrasive materials, such as acids and sandpaper, because this can damage and scratch the material. The ideal is to use specific products for glass or water and soap or neutral detergent.

Houses with glass facades and double-height ceilings are usually more laborious to clean due to the difficulty of accessing the higher parts. A tip is to give preference to self-cleaning glass, which does not accumulate as much dust and remains clean longer.
